Our October chapter meeting will feature member Dave Surowiecki, as he presents his approach to Euro Nymphing. “Euro Dave” is known throughout the chapter and in the Farmington and Housatonic valleys, as an expert on the technique, equipment and flies that “catch the big ones”. Many chapter members have adopted techniques shared by Dave, Dave Shaw and others, and have seen their catch counts rise as a result.
As mentioned Stony Hill Fire Department is unavailable this month, so our meeting will be held at Reverie Brewery at 57B Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470 (north side of Church Hill Road just west of Newtown Pizza Palace). Reverie is Newtown’s newest craft brewery and offers an excellent alternative to the Fire House. We will bring in pizzas and soda, and water will be available. Reverie’s craft beer selection offers something for every palate. Check out their current selections here. Reverie founder Ryan Broderick sponsored our banquet last March with a craft beer gift basket and has promised to continue to sponsor our chapter in the future.
This month’s Fly Swap will feature the Blue Winged Olive, and important fly for the fall season. Check our “News” section for a video example of 3 different BWO patterns.
