CVTU February Chapter Meeting - Torrey Collins

Our chapter meeting for February will feature Torrey Collins of Upcountry Sportfishing. Torrey will present on a variety of topics that draw from his decades of experience and knowledge. He will touch on the effects of increased pressure on trout fishing due to COVID in CT. Another area of focus will be how to target highly pressured fish on the Housatonic and Farmington rivers. Additionally, he will discuss the evolution of Euro Nymphing for these highly pressured fish. Torrey is an excellent presenter having hosted many presentations and podcasts on fly fishing.

Torrey Collins was born and raised in Connecticut and has been fly fishing for 30 years. He caught his first trout, a wild brookie, at age four on a garden worm that had somehow managed to loop itself over a tree branch and dangle in the water. Torrey started fly fishing at age 14, and was a fanatic by age 20. He "discovered" the Housatonic River, nestled in the northwest corner of CT in the Litchfield county hills, over 23 years ago, and it's been a non-stop love affair since then. Torrey manages Upcountry Sportfishing in New Hartford CT. Upcountry is a CVTU sponsor.
