Join us for a morning of striper fishing on the Housatonic River in the Derby/ Shelton area. A large population of striped bass migrates back to the Housatonic and concentrate in a relatively short stretch of water. With the water still relatively warm, stripers are aggressive and an angler with the right gear can into ALOT of fish. The river is sheltered in the productive areas so it is usually calm and easy to fish.
A boat is required for this trip since shore fishing access is very limited. A small aluminum boat with an outboard motor is perfect. A kayak can also be effective if you are up for paddling against strong currents and have the necessary safety gear.
We will meet at the Devon boat ramp under I-95 (no fee to launch), then ride up and fish the productive areas together. We will show how to navigate the river safely as well as demonstrate successful fishing strategies. All TU Covid protocols will be in effect.
When: Nov 27
Time: 7 A.M. meet at launch and fish until around noon
Fishing License Required: CT Freshwater (Upriver from Rte 1 bridge is considered fresh water)
