This month’s chapter gathering will feature Mike Piquette. Mike is a recently retired Analytical Chemist, and fly fisherman for 35 years. Wild trout are his passion.
Mike is a former Conservation Chairman for the Housatonic Fly Fishermen’s Association, and led the successful angler’s effort to restore natural flows to the Housatonic as a condition of the FERC re-licensing (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) of the Housy hydro-power dams.
As the former Conservation Chair of the Nutmeg TU chapter, he advocated for the now implemented wild trout management plan by assisting DEEP with their stream sampling, and presenting the findings to TU chapters and other groups. He also helped to stop two intensive developments proposed for the banks of the Mill River Class 1 Wild Trout Management Area.
In his retirement, his wife - an avid fly fisher - and he will be traveling to trout streams both locally and in Montana and Wyoming.
