Our chapter meeting for April will feature Cole Baldino from South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group. From the glaciers of Mount Rainier to the estuaries of Puget Sound, the South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group works to protect native salmon and steelhead populations of Washington through watershed-scale restoration and community engagement.
Cole Baldino, a Salmon Habitat Biologist and avid Steelheader for the non-profit group, will give an inside look into the fascinating life histories of these migratory fish and how the entire Pacific Northwest is rallying to save them. From log jams the size of an 18-wheeler to blowing up culverts for a Salmon Superhighway, learn about the vital steps being taken to rebuild the lifeblood of the PNW - and what you can do from across the country to lend a hand. If you have ever hooked into an ocean foraged steelhead, you understand the excitement Cole will bring to the room.
Cole originates from the northeast born and raised in Newtown, CT. He obtained a degree in Watershed Science from SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry. Before traveling west, he worked for Trout Unlimited as a Project Manager on tributaries of the Delaware River.
As in the past, we will have pizza and an auction from 7:00 to 7:30. The meeting and presentation will begin at 7:30.
