Tank Talk…

February 20, 2014

The Bethel tanks are thriving!  I was eager to return from our impromptu “vacation” to check on the trout.  I would be lying if the six consecutive days away didn’t make me a bit nervous.  As a seasoned trout teacher, I have learned that the fry are more resilient than I give them credit for, but I guess it’s my “nervous mom” side that creeps out.  I gingerly peeked into the tanks yesterday, preparing for losses and was thrilled to see hundreds of hungry little “trutta” waggling their fins at me.  The trout are about 1- 1 1/2 inches long now and eagerly “swim up” to get their daily dose of “fish food”.  Although the tanks must be covered in thick insulation to keep the temperatures down, each tank has a viewing hole that the kids love to crowd around and gaze into at every given opportunity. Is there anything more calming and serene than watching fish swim? photo (2)
