How to Get a Fishing License
Fishing licenses can be secured from the State of Connecticut’s Online Sportsman Licensing System.
First Time Customers
To buy licenses and permits online, you will have to register for a Connecticut Conservation ID. A Connecticut Conservation ID is a unique number that is assigned to you for the online purchase of all fishing and hunting licenses, permits and tags.
Each time you purchase a new license or permit, you will use this number to login. You will also use this number when you purchase licenses or permits at participating town clerks, sporting goods stores and DEP offices.
If you are a new customer, you will need a valid driver’s license number or social security number to register for a Connecticut Conservation ID.
Reprinting Your License
You can reprint your license at any time by logging on to the State of CT Online Sportsman Licensing site with your CT Conservation ID, last name, and date of birth. After logging in, there is a link for reprinting your license on the top right of the page. You can also go to a participating license vendor and ask for them to reprint your license.
