WEATHER CHANGE – Oct. 13th: Housatonic River Trip Now A River Tour

By  |

October 13, 2018 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Join the Candlewood and Mianus TU chapters for a fun day on the Housatonic River. This is a great way to learn the river, and meet fellow anglers. Kids and families welcome!

DUE TO RECENT HEAVY RAIN, THE HOUSATONIC RIVER IS CURRENTLY TOO HIGH TO FISH SAFELY. SATURDAY’S EVENT WILL, INSTEAD, CONSIST OF A DRIVING TOUR OF THE TROUT MANAGEMENT AREA BY JEFF YATES AND KIT NIELSEN, WHO WILL SHARE WHERE AND HOW TO FISH SOME OF THE BEST POOLS ON THE RIVER.

The Housatonic River was recently stocked with over 2,000 trout, and another 7,000 will likely be stocked in a few weeks, so it’s a great time to learn where to catch them!

We’ll be at Housatonic Meadows State Park starting at 9 a.m. and will begin the driving tour from there. The park is located directly across the street from 13 US 7 in Sharon, CT if you’re using a GPS device. You can come and go as you please and we’ll likely wrap up the river tour before noon.
