October 29th: Housatonic River Fall Outing

By  |

October 29, 2016 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Bring your kids, family and those friends who’ve always wanted to learn to fly fish to our annual fall outing to the Housatonic River on Saturday, Oct. 29.
We’ll provide a free barbecue lunch streamside at 1 p.m., and you’re welcome to come and go as you please for fishing.
We’ll base our barbecue and meet-up at the Housatonic Meadows State Park at 13 US Route 7 in Sharon and plan to meet along the river at around 9 a.m. and break up to fish the river – returning for lunch mid-day.

The timing of this trip is perfect as fishing on the Housatonic peaks in mid-October and the state will have stocked large brown trout in the river in the weeks before our trip.

The Housatonic is an incredible river to fish in the fall and you’re sure to learn a lot from other members. This trip is open to all, guests are welcome and it is perfect for new anglers looking to learn where to go and how to fish rivers like this from our more experienced anglers. If you or a guest need to borrow a fly rod for this trip, email Kit Nielsen to reserve a chapter rod.

Chapter fishing trips offer an unparalleled opportunity to meet new fishing buddies and to introduce new anglers to the great community that is Trout Unlimited. Guests and the public are welcome and our more experienced members are always willing to spend time sharing information on fishing spots and techniques with new anglers.
