Last year we started a new tradition – Troutfest! Come join the members of the Candlewood Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited on the banks of the Farmington River at Mathies Grove on East River Road in Barkhamstead for Trout Fest 2014 on June 21 at Noon. Bill Bennett will once again be the barbecuing expert and coordinate the event. There will be Burgers and Brats, Chips and Salads and lots of Candlewood Valley Chapter members. The picnic is free so we expect a good crowd. All members of the family are invited to attend.
And no TU event would be complete without a little fishing (pray for no rain). The Sulphurs will be on so after the festivities we can disperse to catch this classic Farmington River hatch. For those who brave the dark, mousing at midnight is an option.
Directions to the park can be found at the link below. As you enter the park take a right. The party will be at the field on the far right.
Note: The Park entrance fee of $9 per car during the summer. Don’t let this dissuade you from coming. We’re happy to reimburse anyone who requires it.
