Fly Fishing Fundamentals

George Daniel, a member of the National Fly Fishing team, the Head Coach for the Junior National Fly Fishing Team, and a multi time fly fishing competition medalist,   is visiting Connecticut on May 10, 2010 to conduct a workshop for us.  The workshop will be held out doors, rain or shine,  on the Farmington River; we  plan to use the pavillion on the east bank of the river for a lunch break in case of inclement weather.   Please rendezvous at the pavillion at 10 am; we will start when George arrives from Pennsylvania.  You can still sign up until May 7 (no walk-ins please) , when lunch will be ordered.  To register, call Gary whipple at 2037465982 or better yet, email garyw1948 [at] sbcglobal [dot] net so I can send you directions and other details.

Registration is $75, which includes lunch and morning coffee.

George’s fly fishing fundamentals workshop will cover:

  • casting fundamentals
  • the dry fly on large and small streams
  • streamer and wet fly tactics
  • some nymphing
This fundementals class is suitable for the beginner who wants to learn from the best, and it is also suitable for the more experienced angler  who wants to revisit some of the fundemental details that may have been forgotten in practice.
